Artist Chiffon Thomas takes visitors on an unforgettable journey beneath the ballroom oculus using rhythmic drums to activate Rose Window Tower, a work recently acquired by the Crocker. Inspired by childhood memories of gazing up at a gothic rose window in his Chicago public housing building, Thomas repurposed the architectural remnants of a bygone society for this sculpture. Using drums built into the back of the work, the artist weaves an immersive, multi-sensory performance that is not to be missed. Thomas will join Crocker Curator Francesca Wilmott, PhD, in introducing this thought-provoking work prior to the Entering the Oculus performance.
