Inspired by bell hooks’s powerful invitation to “Come closer and you will see: feminism is for everybody” this series features edgy, genre-defying sounds and boundary-pushing voices, inviting music lovers of all kinds to lean in, listen up, and experience something unexpected. Come closer—and hear how feminism moves.

Poet, activist, and 2025 NPR Tiny Desk winner Ruby Ibarra commands the stage with sharp lyricism and audacious energy. Blending hip-hop and spoken word, she explores identity, heritage, and empowerment through powerful storytelling and rhythmic flow.
