What To Expect

Explore how artists, filmmakers, and curators use moving images and film in their work. Each program includes a screening of a short film, video artwork, or digital media production, as well as a presentation that spotlights how this medium fits within or inspires each speaker’s artistic and/or curatorial practice.

Join local Sacramento artist Tavarus Blackmon for Berberian Sound Studio, Peter Strickland’s 2012 edge-of-your-seat psychological horror film about a British sound engineer’s eerie experience scoring a giallo film (an Italian genre of pulp shocker films) in Rome.

Tavarus Blackmon is a Sacramento native and recent graduate of the MFA program and Provost Fellow at The University of California, Davis. He has exhibited locally, nationally, and internationally.
