Ages 18+
Sunday, August 28, 2022
12 – 4 PM
Examine how artists in the exhibition Another World: The Transcendental Painting Group tapped into the “collective unconscious,” a state of being they believed to be the source of inspiration for their art. In this part-yoga, part-art making class, participants will use relaxation techniques to set the state of consciousness before delving into watercolor painting with exploratory activities. Following a few simple guidelines, participants will paint an abstract watercolor work of art to take home.
Instructor: Michelle Steen is an artist and educator with 15 years of experience engaging people of all ages in art. She holds an MFA in Figurative Painting from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Michelle lives in Sacramento with her family and enjoys painting oil portraits of her 14-year-old Australian shepherd, and painting on cardboard with her 3-year-old son.
