Three Wednesdays, starting February 3

Fueled with inspiration from Legends of Los Angeles: Betye, Alison and Lezley Saar in the Crocker Collection, break free from traditional painted or sketch portraiture and experiment to create radical and disruptive portraits through mixed media and found objects. For authentic and true meaning-making, participants will use objects sourced for their own worlds and experiences. Registration closes February 1.

Don't forget your supplies!

Running low on supplies or just want to avoid going to the store? Purchase a Supplies-to-Go Bag, conveniently packed and quarantined for at least 72 hours and ready for curbside pick-up at a designated time. Available at registration. Limit one per participant.

Want to order your own materials? Click HERE for a supply list. Allow ample time for deliveries to ensure you are ready to go when class begins. Note: All participants will need access to Zoom.

Instructor Shonna McDaniels is the founder and director of the Sojourner Truth Multicultural Art Museum, now the Sojourner Truth African Heritage Museum. She is a professional muralist and has an extensive background in art instruction and mural design. She has more than 25 years of involvement with community organizations that support the arts through exhibitions, residencies, murals, and festivals in South Sacramento.
