Portrait Paintings Inspired by the Women of the Harlem Renaissance

Discover and be inspired by the determined, powerful women of the Harlem Renaissance Movement with Shonna McDaniels of the Sojourner Truth African Heritage Museum in fun, casual class for beginners. Then, after reviewing the basics of composition and acrylic paint properties, create a painting on stretched canvas. Enrollment closes August 14 at 3 PM.
Instructor Shonna McDaniels is the founder and director of the Sojourner Truth Multicultural Art Museum. She is a professional muralist and has an extensive background in art instruction and mural design. She has more than 25 years of involvement with community organizations that support the arts through exhibitions, residencies, murals, and festivals in South Sacramento.
Running low on supplies or just want to avoid going to the store? Make it easy on yourself and purchase a Supplies-to-Go Bag for $25 — conveniently packed and quarantined for at least 72 hours and ready for curbside pick-up at a designated time. Limit one per participant, available during registration.
If you want to order on your own materials, you will need the following supplies: various colors of acrylic paint, 11 X 14 canvas, and acrylic brushes. Allow ample time for deliveries to ensure you are ready to go when class begins. Note: All participants will need access to Zoom.
