Pianist Liana Paniyeva performs a selection of works that highlight the Crocker’s collection of 19th-century European painting. The program includes favorites by Chopin, Liszt, and Schubert, as well as Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. Trained in Ukraine, Paniyeva has been touring the world and winning awards like the Grand Prize at the Metropolitan International Piano Competition and first prize at the American Fine Arts Festival Golden Era of Romantic Music International Competition.

Before the performance, enjoy an in-depth, docent-led tour of select works in the Crocker’s collection of 19th-century German paintings, and other art from the permanent collection,to help put the music in context with the art.

After the performance, connect with your fellow concertgoers over coffee and conversation. Look for the “Coffee After Classical” table in the cafe area, and find fun conversation starters and additional information about the music you heard. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase at the Crocker Cafe until 4:30 PM, and cafe seating remains open until 5 PM.

For more than 50 years, the Crocker has proudly presented its Classical Concert Series, featuring the finest musicians and singers from around the region and across the world. These educational performances are approximately 60 minutes with no intermission and draw a connection to the art on view at the Museum.
