Classical Concert: Duo Esplanade, flute and clarinet
Sunday, August 11, 2019
A versatile chamber ensemble, Duo Esplanade offers musically and intellectually exciting performances featuring both the standard repertoire, and new and under-represented pieces. Founded in 2014 at the Boston Conservatory, this flute-clarinet duo energetically engages audiences by expanding the literature for clarinet and flute by commissioning new pieces and rearranging music traditionally performed by multiple instruments. Inspired by the playfulness found in the exhibition Big Ideas: Richard Jackson’s Alleged Paintings, Duo will use their unique genre-bridging style to present works that are similarly entertaining, comical, and full of color. The program, along with their own unique commissions, will include works by David Liptak, Jose-Luis Maurtua, Kevin Wilson, Robert Muczynski, Michael Colquhoun, and Roger Zare.
For more than 50 years, the Crocker has proudly presented its Classical Concert Series, a monthly concert featuring the finest musicians and singers from around the region and across the world. Performances are 60 minute concerts with no intermission and draw a connection to the art on view at the Museum and offer audiences a chance to hear a variety of classical music, from Baroque to contemporary. Performers are selected by the Crocker’s Classical Concert Music Board based on experience, quality of proposed program, and, most importantly, talent and musicianship. Space is limited and advance registration is recommended.
Online registration will close at 1 PM on August 9. Tickets may be available at the door. Purchase tickets by clicking the REGISTER button above, visiting the Museum admission desk, or calling (916) 808-1184.
