Artist Barbara Earl Thomas first came to know Jacob Lawrence as his student at the University of Washington, and through the years she developed a deep friendship with Lawrence and his wife. In honor of the exhibition History, Labor, Life: The Prints of Jacob Lawrence, join us for this wide-ranging talk, and gain insight into Lawrence as a person, a friend, and a teacher as you discover why Lawrence’s art remains so deeply relevant to viewers today.
