Classical Concert: Festival of New American Music
Sunday, November 11, 2018
The Crocker is proud to again be a venue for the Festival of New American Music, which highlights contemporary classical music with innovative, avant-garde performances of works by living American composers. This year, the festival welcomes international guitar/violin ensemble Duo46 to the Crocker. Comprised of classical guitarist Dr. Matthew Gould and violinist Beth Ilana Schneider-Gould, Duo46 are celebrated for their beautiful performances featuring complex and engaging compositions. The Festival of New American Music, a project of the School of Music at Sacramento State, is celebrating its 41st year of providing audiences with the finest in American contemporary music. You can check out all the festival events at csus.edu/music/fenam.
For more than 50 years, the Crocker has proudly presented its Classical Concert Series, a monthly concert featuring the finest musicians and singers from around the region and across the world. Performances are 60 minute concerts with no intermission and draw a connection to the art on view at the Museum and offer audiences a chance to hear a variety of classical music, from Baroque to contemporary. Performers are selected by the Crocker’s Classical Concert Music Board based on experience, quality of proposed program, and, most importantly, talent and musicianship. Space is limited and advance registration is recommended.
In advance of the Classical Concert, enjoy a docent-led tour of select works from the Crocker’s permanent collection of contemporary American art, to help put the music in context with the art. Prelude Tours are open to all visitors.
