Designed with the beginner in mind, become familiar with color theory and design principles by producing abstract paintings. Additionally, explore still life paintings and seek inspiration from the Crocker’s permanent collection. All levels of experience are welcome.

About the Instructor:

Karen Roughton is an artist, member of The Artery in Davis, professor of art at American River College, and Crocker docent. She has a master’s from Sacramento State and has been involved in art education for more than 35 years. She is known for her supportive, easygoing teaching style.

No experience is required unless noted. The Museum provides student-quality supplies included in the fee unless indicated otherwise. Students are welcome to bring their personal supplies; however there is no discount for doing so. Oil paints are not allowed in studio classrooms.
