Enjoy this class that combines art history and production, focusing on the life of the world-renowned artist known as Rembrandt. Discover the Dutch Golden Age as well as Rembrandt's influence on that era, and gain a better understanding of the Crocker collection by this Dutch master. Then, try your hand at painting in the manner of Rembrandt by producing preparatory drawing swith step-by-step instruction.

Instructors: Patris and Jill Pease
About the Instructors:
Patris left the education profession in 2004 to pursue her art full-time. She has recently been juried into several national plein air painting competitions and her work is in many private and public collections. She served on the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission and is a member of the California Art Club, the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association, and Landscape Artists International.
Jill Pease is the Crocker’s former Docent Education Coordinator/Liaison for the Crocker and has worked in arts education for more than two decades. She is a credentialed community college instructor, a former co-director of the California Consultancy for Arts Education, and was awarded the California Art Education Association’s Award of Merit in 2005. She has master’s degrees in both German and art history from the University of California, Davis.

No experience is required unless noted. The Museum provides student-quality supplies included in the fee unless indicated otherwise. Students are welcome to bring their personal supplies; however there is no discount for doing so. Oil paints are not allowed in studio classrooms.
