Foreign Fall Film Series
Thursday, December 7, 2017
[1966, 85 MINUTES, NR (Adult content - may not be suitable for children); in Swedish with English subtitles]
Join us for a trip around the globe as we present a sampling and behind-the-scenes discussions of some of the best foreign cinema. Provocative and educational, each screening will include an introduction by local film expert Jacob Greenberg, designed to offer a full understanding of the films individually and as part of the Crocker's curated series. By turns funny, surreal, poignant, and experimental, and all rarely presented on the big screen, these four cinematic gems are not to be missed. Members can purchase a "Film Passport" for the series and see all four films for the price of three.
Persona is one of those films you can watch time and again. Directed by the fiercely innovative, provocative, and enormously influential Swedish director Ingmar Bergman, Persona is a modernist masterpiece considered by many to be Bergman’s greatest work. The story of a troubled actress (Bergman’s great muse Liv Ullmann) who is cared for by a nurse (Bibi Andersson) at a beautiful seaside cottage, Persona employs gorgeously stark camera work and techniques.
