San Francisco Munich Trio: cello, bassoon, and piano
October 8, 2017
In honor of the opening day of the exhibition Richard Diebenkorn: Beginnings, 1942-1955, and the artist's love of classical music, the famed San Francisco Munich Trio will appear at the Crocker for a single concert to showcase works from two of Diebenkorn's favorite composers, Mozart and Beethoven. Featuring Munich-based duo Friedrich Edelmann (bassoon) and Rebecca Rust (cello), plus Northern California sensation Dmitriy Cogan (piano), the Trio has created an amazing program to include Beethoven's 7 Variations on a theme from Mozart’s “Magic Flute”. Enjoy an afternoon of European delights with the one and only San Francisco Munich Trio in celebration of Richard Diebenkorn. Space is limited, and advance registration is recommended.
For more than 50 years, the Crocker has proudly presented it’s Classical Concert Series, a monthly concert featuring the finest musicians and singers from around the region and across the world. Performances are 60 minute concerts that draw a connection to the art on view at the Museum and offer audiences a chance to hear a variety of classical music, from Baroque to contemporary. Performers are selected by the Crocker’s Classical Concert Music Board based on experience, quality of proposed program, and, most importantly, talent and musicianship.
In advance of the Classical Concert, enjoy a docent-led tour of the Crocker exhibition Richard Diebenkorn: Beginnings, 1942-1955 to help put the music in context with the art. Prelude Tours are open to all visitors.
