Classical Concert: Andrei Baumann, piano
June 11, 2017
Join us for this special classical concert when famed pianist Andrei Baumann performs Beethoven’s final three sonatas (Op. 109, 110, and 111). Considered masterworks of piano literature, these sonatas are an event unto themselves when performed together. Baumann draws a connection between these works and select works from the Crocker’s collection of 19th century European Painting, exploring the sense of tranquility and turbulence contained in both the art and Beethoven’s music. This special concert will last approximately 75 minutes. Space is limited and advance registration is recommended.
For more than 50 years, the Crocker has proudly presented
it’s Classical Concert Series, a monthly concert featuring the finest musicians
and singers from around the region and across the world. Performances are
50-minute concerts that draw a connection to the art on view at the Museum and
offer audiences a chance to hear a variety of classical music, from Baroque to
contemporary. Performers are selected by the Crocker’s Classical Concert Music
Board based on experience, quality of proposed program, and, most importantly,
talent and musicianship.
In advance of the Classical Concert, enjoy a docent-led tour of select works from the Crocker's collection of European painting to help put the music in context with the art. Prelude Tours are open to all visitors.
