Crocker Book Club
"My Name is Red" by Orhan Pamuk
August 24, 2017
The Crocker Book Club returns with books that incorporate art in different ways. Each session includes a robust discussion of the book led by a museum educator, followed by a gallery activity. Grab a drink or snack from the Crocker Cafe by Supper Club, and then join us in the first-floor meeting center for a fun exchange of ideas about the book, art, and life.
My Name is Red by Orhan Pamuk
The breakout novel by Turkish writer Orhan Pamuk, My Name is Red centers on miniaturist artists of the Ottoman Empire in 1591 and swirls together murder, intrigue, romance, and philosophical puzzles. Told in a unique style incorporating multiple narrators and points of view, this 1998 novel made Pamuk an international literary star who would go on to win the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2006.
