The Crocker Book Club returns with books that incorporate art in different ways. Each session includes a robust discussion of the book led by a museum educator, followed by a gallery activity. Grab a drink or snack from the Crocker Cafe by Supper Club, and then join us in the first-floor meeting center for a fun exchange of ideas about the book, art, and life.

How to Be Both by Ali Smith

Named a "Best Book of the Year" by NPR and the Financial Times, and a finalist for the Man Booker Prize, How to be Both is a literary tour de force, entwining two stories into one in surprising and inventive ways. There is George, a teenage girl living in current-day Cambridge; and Francesco del Cossa, a Renaissance fresco painter. Told from two perspectives, How to be Both brings to the fore questions of identity and reality, as we come to see how things aren’t always true or false, but can be both.

Space is limited; advance registration is highly suggested.

The Thursday session is June 22, at 6 PM, in the first floor meeting room.

The next Crocker Book Club meetings will be held on August 24 and 26 and the book will be My Name is Red by Orhan Pamuk.
