Family Friday - Woodcraft, Boats, and Brazilian Dancing Blowout!
Friday, July 28, 2017
11 AM - 12:30 PM
This summer, Family Fridays are hands on! Explore a different artistic material each week, with interactive artist demonstrations, exciting performances, and creations you can take home. Designed for a range of abilities and learning styles, Family Fridays take place in the E. Kendall Davis courtyard and include multisensory activities, picnic areas, and a Double Digit Clubhouse just for kids 10 and older.
Want a sneak peek at the new Tot Land? You won't want to miss our final Family Friday of the Summer! On July 28th, artist Martin Webb will be working in wood sculpture and painting, and everyone can join in! Martin is redesigning Tot Land in August* as part of Art Spots, which have been popping up all over the Museum this year. To finish Family Fridays with a blowout, the Mistura Brasileira Samba Dance Co. will bring a joyful show full of color, dance, and exciting Brazilian rhythms.
Originally from England but now a longtime Bay Area resident, artist Martin Webb makes artworks that include painting, sculpture, printmaking, and public art. He is represented by Vessel Gallery in Oakland and the SFMOMA Artist’s Gallery in San Francisco.
The Mistura Brasileira Samba Dance Co., based out of the Brazilian Center for Cultural Exchange, brings excitement and authentic Brazilian flavor to the Sacramento area. From the movements of the goddess, to the great influences from Afro-Brazilian culture, to the pulsating rhythms of Rio de Janeiro's Carnaval, Mistura Brasileira delivers a grand performance.
*Tot Land will close after August 9th and will reopen Sunday, September10th with a special Super Sunday Playday.
Free for members and free with general admission for nonmembers.
