Exploring with Contour Lines

Learn how famous artists such as Van Gogh, Picasso, and Klimt used contour line drawing as a foundation for their artwork, and practice a variety of contour lines to improve your own technique. Then, participate in a 100-drawing challenge! We’ll provide the sketchbook.

Instructor: Abigail VanCannon
About the Instructor:
Abigail VanCannon paints out of her home studio in Sacramento. Her artistic background allows her to work and teach in numerous mediums, but she is most prolific in oils. She holds a BFA from Iowa State University and MFA from the Academy of Art University. Southwest Art Magazine named VanCannon one of the “21 Under 31” emerging artists in 2012. She was selected in 2013 as “30 Under 30” by Art Business News and was included in Southwest Art Magazine’s “Meet The Finalist” section in December 2013. VanCannon keeps and active exhibition record, showing in local and national settings.

No experience is required unless noted. The Museum provides student-quality supplies included in the fee unless indicated otherwise. Students are welcome to bring their personal supplies; however there is no discount for doing so. Oil paints are not allowed in studio classrooms. Registered students are not permitted to bring guests.
