Dan Howard
Secretary
Dan Howard was born in Southern California and moved to Sacramento at a young age. After earning an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from UC Davis, he moved east to Boston and was the first graduate to earn a Master of Operation Research from MIT. Family and the uncertainty of the Vietnam era brought him back to Sacramento where he started running the family steel business. Forty-five years later, as the owner and CEO of Capitol Iron Works, a Sacramento structural steel and manufacturing plant, Dan has given over the day-to-day management and operations to the current president and longtime employee. Dan is enjoying retirement and used to travel the world with his wife, Gwenna, a former art gallery owner, and hopefully can resume that in the near future. Dan and Gwenna are playing an active role in the lives of their now 12 grandchildren spread out over California and New York.
