Emily Anne Huckins (Rio Americano High School, 12th Grade)

Time is inspired by the book, "Siddartha" by Herman Hesse.

This book helped me through a very dark time in my life and gave me a purpose, it's become a part of me an aspects of me and I wanted to represent that aspect of me in this piece. Time depicts me desperately trying to remain afloat in the rough waters of time. It sucks you up, thrashers, and yet, it offers a kind a peace once understood. The colors red and blue were chosen to represent humanity, red, and the natural world, blue. These waters cannot be tamed, however there can be a Symbiosis, and this piece depicts my attempt to achieve that balance.
