Back to Collection

Since this was supposed to be a self-portrait, I used a picture as a reference, which I took one morning waiting for the commons at school to open when I happened to be under some lights that created interesting shadows on my face. I was originally going to use the palette created from the photo I took, but in the end chose to simply use it as a reference and decide on the palette on my own. It started with a pencil sketch that was lightened with a kneading eraser and I began painting one section at a time. For example, I’d start with the face, painting with the base skin tone, adding blush to the cheeks and the eyes, and then building shadows until I felt that it was done enough for me to move onto another section.
