Camp Facilitator

DEPARTMENT: Education
SUPERVISOR: Studio Experiences Manager
|EMPLOYMENT STATUS: This position is a FT seasonal position to support Summer Art Camp which runs in eight (8) one-week (5 days, Monday-Friday) sessions June 15 through August 14, 2026. Selected candidate will be available to work one or more camp sessions as scheduled.
SALARY RANGE: $21.00 an hour

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
The Crocker Art Museum is dedicated to promoting an awareness of and enthusiasm for human experience through art. We measure our success by our ability to enrich the intellectual and cultural life of the communities we serve. This position helps fulfil this by conducting experiences that are grounded in the visual arts and brings children/youth in direct contact with original works of art in a museum setting.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinating the daily logistics necessary for facilitating Crocker Art Camp

  • Preparing and conducting age-appropriate arts education experiences that encourage children to appreciate and understand artmaking and art history through the use of the Crocker, its collections and resources. This includes implementing hands-on art experiences for campers at the museum.

  • Assist in evaluating the camper experience.

  • Provide on-going maintenance of camp spaces.

  • Aiding in monitoring the security and safety of campers, docents, volunteers, staff

  • Updating lead camp facilitator of needed education resources, supplies or any other essentials

  • Attending training sessions and meetings as assigned.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to engage children and youth through an inquiry-based method of investigating artwork.

  • Knowledge of studio art processes and a core understanding of art history.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with members, visitors, volunteers, vendors, etc.

  • Intellectual curiosity and problem-solving ability.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams and across departments

  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion and diplomatic skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

REQUIREMENTS:

  • EXPERIENCE: One year of experience in an educational or teaching environment.

  • EDUCATION: Immersed in a college level Studio Art or Art Education.

  • HOURS: 40/week, generally 8:30 AM – 5 PM; weekdays

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and sit for long periods of time. They must have physical dexterity and the ability to carefully handle objects, as well as the ability to lift and move items of various weights and sizes. Employee will occasionally be required to lift and move objects weighing as much as 25 lbs.
